First, my dad had a heart attack on January 24th. They went in a cleaned out his artery, and he wanted to go home that very day. Of course, you would have to know my dad. He doesn't "rest" well. I spent the day there on Tuesday in case anybody needed anything (they didn't). Watching Dad was rather like watching the lions at the zoo. He wandered around his apartment a lot, like he was confined. Other than that I have been leaving the mothering up to my sister. She seems to want to do it more, and she doesn't have a toddler in tow. Dad is doing well, though he is tired a lot. He sees his doctor again today, so we will see.
Second, we made an offer on a different house. I am pretty excited about this one and hope we can work out all the details soon. I would love to be in a home so we can have James's birthday party in March at our very own place.
Third, I entered a writing contest today. The Grand Prize is a publishing contract with Penguin and a $25,000 advance. I would love to win! I have my doubts about that, but it sounds like they occasionally sign other people from the contest and I would take that! Stay tuned because there will be a point (assuming I get through to that round) that people who belong to Amazon.com will get the opportunity to vote on books. I am hoping all of my loyal (and not so loyal) readers will help me out by voting for me.

A Brief Update
I keep thinking I should post SOMETHING! I just don't really have much to say.
I have been sick since New Year's Day. I am so tired of being sick! My ear has fluid in it, so I can't really hear anything, and it is making me crazy! Before that both Jake and James were sick. Is the winter over yet? Our computer crashed for the final time right before Christmas. I had to have a new one since I work from home, but Jake hasn't transferred stuff off the old one to the new one yet, so I am missing a bunch of stuff.
The thing I have been thinking about most lately though is my cousin, Pam. She died on Saturday at only 38 years old. She left behind four children and one step child. I do not mourn for her, she had cancer and was suffering pretty badly at the end. I believe she is in a much better place and no longer in pain. It is for her poor children. See, her first husband wasn't the nicest of guys. He cheated on her and most likely gave her the cervical cancer. He has never treated their children like I think a father should, and, frankly, didn't deserve my cousin or the children. Her second husband, on the other hand, loved her through cancer and took on those children. He is a great guy. The problem is that her first husband won't let the second husband adopt the children. In fact, we are pretty sure that the first husband is going to fight for the kids and being that he is their biological father, he is probably going to win. It just isn't right!
